Career in Bank
The banks conduct exams for the following cadres:
1.    Bank Probationary Officers (PO)
2.    Bank Clerks or Probationary Clerks
3.    Bank Specialist Officers (SO)

Career as a Bank Probationary Officer (PO):
A Probationary Officer’s post is the entry to the managerial positions in the banking industry. A Probationary Officer’s  starts as a trainee officer in the Junior Management Grade Service of the bank and can rise to the highest grades of the bank in his career becoming a General Manager, a Director or even the Chairman of the Bank.

Career as a Bank Clerk : 
A young person joining a bank as a clerk-cum-cashier in the clerical cadre of the bank. A bank clerk enjoys job security, challenging work environment, opportunity to strengthen customer relation skills and working to learn under worthy senior officers. A bank clerk is trained at the Bank’s Staff Training Colleges and given opportunity through departmental exams of the bank to rise to the higher levels of management in the bank. 

Career as a Bank Specialist Officer (SO):
Banks also conduct recruitment exams for Specialist Officers cadre to man their finance, legal, human resources, marketing, systems and other departments which are open to candidates having requisite professional qualifications in engineering, chartered accountancy, law or a degree in MBA, MCA,.... etc.

Types of Bank Exams:
Generally, the bank examinations are of the following types :
1.Common Written Examinations (CWE's) conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) as a prerequisite for the selection of personnel for Probationary Officer / Management Trainee / Clerk / Specialist Officer posts in 20 Public Sector banks and for Officers and Office Assistants in 82 Regional Rural Banks (RRB)
1.Exam conducted by SBI and SBI Associate banks for recruitment to the posts of clerks and officers

Eligibility Criteria:

Age Limit
Educational Qualifications
IBPS CWE (PO/MT) for PSBs
20-30 Years
Degree in any discipline from a recognised university or any equivalent qualification
IBPS CWE (Officers) for RRBs
Officer Scale III - 21-40 yrs.
Officer Scale II - 21-32 yrs.
Officer Scale I - 18-28 yrs.
Degree in any discipline for General Banking Officers (50% for Scale II &III) & Degree / PG in a relevant subject for Specialist Officers as given in the notification. Experience also required for some posts
SBI/SBI Associate Banks PO
21-30 Years
Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university / college

  Staff Selection Commission
Staff Selection commission (SSC) is an organization under Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) Established on 4 Nov, 1975. Formerly it is known as Subordinate Service Commission. On 26 Sept, 1977 it is renamed as Staff Selection Commission. Its function is to recruitment for the various posts under Govt. of India.
The Staff Selection Commission has its Headquarters at New Delhi and at present it has seven regional offices in Allahabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Guawahati , Chennai, Bangalore and two Sub-Regional Offices at Raipur and Chandigarh.

Function of SSC          
Function of SSC is to make recruitment for the various posts of group B (non gazetted) and group C and D in the various departments and ministries under Government of India and Sub Ordinates offices.
